My work explores fragments of the family wash through playing with elements of performance, print and textiles, this subject has led to a series of questions around class structures and how the family wash has evolved a long with the changing expectations of women. Furthermore, it has afforded me the opportunity to be experimental and take risks, to strengthen my own creative practice.  This all began with my great aunt’s washboard from the 50’s and her insightful stories about the good old steamie that I can only imagine which is why I also adopted headphones and a facemask to convey a feeling of isolation, as a community of people nowadays is one that is growing out of social media.
